01 — Why PRS Tampa

The same standard.
A new city.

High-level preparation for high-level athletes — the Pass Rush Sensei way, now running in Tampa under a coach who lived it for eight years. Tampa is personal for Ese, too: he spent many CFL offseasons training here, and his tie to Coach Khreem goes back to BC in 2015.

01

A Player’s Coach — He Gets It

In Ese’s first year in BC in 2015, Khreem was his vet — the pointers here and there, and just as much showing him by example, helped set Ese up. Ese is pretty sure they were locker neighbors in that locker room, too — a deeper tie than a branch deal. It’s the same pay-it-forward chain Khreem got from the vets who took him in: somebody helped me, so pass it on.

02

Fundamentals, In Sequence

Everything is built in order — stance, block recognition, then hips, hands and feet — with real-time correction until the rep is right.

03

Simple & Effective

No gimmicks. Effort and motor are non-negotiable, gaps get dominated, and the standard does not drop when you’re tired.

Coach Khreem / 02

Who is
Coach Khreem?

Eight years in the league teaches you what actually survives on a football field — and Khreem Smith spent those eight years in the trenches across the NFL, CFL and AFL.

An Oklahoma State University alum and certified personal trainer, Coach Khreem coaches athletic development for all sports, with one focus above the rest: mentoring the next generation. He recently left his previous gym and is now coaching at Trench Academy in the Tampa area — working with offensive line, defensive line and linebackers from high school through college and pro, with strength-based training, one-on-ones and combine prep.

His coaching is a pay-it-forward. When he was coming up, older veterans in Minnesota took him in — and he paid it forward the same way: in BC in 2015 he was Ese’s vet, helping the future Coach E, founder of Pass Rush Sensei, with pointers and by example. Now, as a father and grandfather, he runs the Tampa branch the same way: real knowledge, real standards, handed to the next man up.

“Somebody helped me. Now it’s my turn to pass it on.”

03 — Philosophy

Fundamentals over
everything.

Coach Khreem’s system, in his own order. It starts before the snap — and it doesn’t change when you’re tired.

  1. 01

    It Starts With Your Stance

Everything is built in sequence: stance, then block recognition — then hips, hands and feet. Get the start right and the rest of the rep has a chance.

  2. 02

    Effort & Motor — Non-Negotiable

The one trait that is never up for debate. Run to the ball every play — even from the backside. Three hard steps, every snap, and show up on film.

  3. 03

Stay in Your Gap. Dominate It.

Fundamentals over everything, especially when you’re tired. Do your job first: hold your gap, dominate your gap, and let the play come to the unit.

  4. 04

    Find Your Trademark

Don’t copy another man’s move. Find what works for you and master it until it’s your trademark. Finesse not working? Go power. Power not working? Go finesse. And keep your hands moving like a boxer — they never stop.

Stop the Run. Read Your Blocks.

First and second down belong to the run game. Sit in your stance, read the block in front of you, stay in your gap and dominate it. Pass rush is earned — you earn it by stopping the run first.
